UNITED WAY LAUNCHES UNITY CAMPAIGN
28 Local Nonprofits Team Up for New Fundraising Campaign

MARTINSBURG, WV— More than twenty-five local nonprofits have teamed up with United Way of the Eastern Panhandle for the launch of a new fundraising initiative, the 2019 Unity Campaign.

The inaugural fundraiser, which begins September 11, aims to raise more than $150,000 for area nonprofits that provide health, education, basic needs, and financial stability programs to individuals and families in the Eastern Panhandle.

The collaborative campaign is designed to allow participating charities to maximize their fundraising efforts through shared media exposure, online fundraising tools, and in-kind sponsorships. By working together, the group hopes to reach new donors and increase contributions to their organizations.

As the campaign organizer, United Way of the Eastern Panhandle selects the partnering charities, coordinates marketing efforts, promotes the campaign, and acts as the fiscal agent through which individuals and businesses can donate to the campaign.

Though most of the fundraising will be concentrated within the “12 Days of Giving” from September 11 to September 22, donations are already being accepted through the campaign website. Donors can contribute to any of the participating agencies and 100% of their contribution will go directly to the nonprofit organization of their choice.

Through the generosity of an Incentive Match Sponsor, not only will 100% of contributions go to the designated nonprofit, individual gifts are boosted because a portion of all donations will be matched by the sponsor.

The 2019 Unity Campaign also features a crowdsourcing component in which individuals can raise money for a participating nonprofit. Twenty-nine people have started fundraisers for their charity of choice, as of today. The option is intended to encourage community involvement in the campaign.

The Journal, Today's 97.5, WEPM & WCST The Panhandle News Network, 95.9 The Big Dawg, and Cool 92.9 will provide in-kind support for the 2019 Unity Campaign.
