Berkeley County

String Program

The following volunteers are being sought:

1.  Mentors who have music knowledge, ideally string experience and /or read music to assist students in need of extra assistance.

2. Seeking legal help to obtain nonprofit status.

3. Retired teachers who can work as ushers for the string concert program. 

4. Volunteers who can supervise students who are not on stage performing.

5.  Individuals who can tune string instruments.

Also, musically trained volunteers are needed for the following evening classes:

  • Eagle String classes 6 to 8:5 at Eagle School
  • Tuesday High School orchestra 7 to 8:30 at Martinsburg HS Band Room
  • Thursday Beginner and advanced orchestra 6:00 PM

Berkeley Senior Services

The following volunteers are needed:

1) Senior Center front desk greeters

2) Lunch volunteers to serve lunch at the Senior Center, wrap silverware, maintain coffee and drinks, and socialize with the participants (must be friendly and a good hugger to qualify).

3) Clerical assistance with filing and record keeping

4) Transportation assistance to take seniors and disabled individual run essential errands.

5) Volunteers to assist with respite care for seniors and the disabled (in home and at the Center.)

Children's Home Society of West Virginia

Volunteers are being sought for a variety of positions, including special event coordination, fundraising, and general office support.

Volunteers are needed to participate in the We CAN program.

1) Special Projects/Events Coordinator to perform community/computer research and fundraising planning

2) Grant writer with experience in writing and securing grants.

Congregational Cooperative Action Project (CCAP)

CCAP Loaves and is seeking volunteers for several positions.  Including interviewing clients and determining how to best assist them, packing boxes of food.  Volunteers may work as often or as little as they wish. CCAP is open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 - 3:00.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army appreciates volunteers who

1. Can sort and organize the food pantry and sort clothing and household donations.  the best time for this is Monday - Friday 9AM - noon and 1 PM - 4PM.

2.  Can conduct fund raisers and other projects to benefit Salvation Army youth program and other activities.

On weekends, the Salvation Army sometimes has rummage sales with which volunteers can help.

  • Preparation of educational packets

Telamon Corporation Volunteers are needed to assist Self-Help Families in construction their own homes under the supervision of a Construction Coordinator/Trainer.  Specific duties may include framing, roofing, siding, drywall, painting, yard work, etc.
