2006 Summer Youth Production:

Rikki, Tikki, Tavi
Written by Tim Kelly

Based on Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book stories. If you happen to be passing the Old Opera House this summer, you cannot help but sense the excitement bursting from this historic building. Inside, over forty young performers and artists are busy putting together the 2006 Summer Youth Production, Rikki, Tikki, Tavi. Under the direction of Clarke County Public Schools teacher, Andy Kiser, young actors are studying their lines, practicing the movement of jungle animals, and turning the Old Opera House stage into the wilds of India in the early 1900s.

Based on a tale from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, this play follows a spunky young mongoose who becomes guardian of an English family's bungalow and battles two nasty cobras and one rather egotistical tiger. The Old Opera House's version will have an urban flavor utilizing creative makeup, costuming, puppetry, dance and rhythmic movement similar to that found in the stage version of Disney's The Lion King. However this is NOT a musical!
