Martinsburg Journal Letters to Editor
By Suzanne T. Wells
Martinsburg:
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to MOM and all the wonderful people involved in the recent dental clinic at Hedgesville High School.
The event was exceptionally organized and the volunteers, from teens to grandparents, were professional and very friendly. Things went quite smoothly and being pre-screened, which they did the week before, my total time was about two hours.
I'm new to West Virginia and though I understand this event originated in Virginia, none of the many states I've lived in ever offered any kind of free dental clinics. The sad thing is that this event demonstrates how desperate our area is for dentists and affordable dental care.
My hat's off to all those dentists and hygienists who volunteered their time and art and many traveling a great distance to do so.

Shepherdstown:
I appreciated your outstanding coverage of the MOM program in your Saturday and Sunday publications.
I write this not as self-serving, but as a testimony to an outpouring of volunteers with community spirit and concern for one's fellow man. I believe it would be meaningful to inform the community of the 700 volunteers (who) participated for 12 hours each day.
It was almost a one-to-one ratio and a testimony to what West Virginians are all about.
