Annual Marvin J. Yurish Spirit Award
June 2008
Annual Marvin J. Yurish Spirit Award: Each year the Marvin J. Yurish Spirit Award is awarded to a volunteer in recognition of consistent and outstanding support of United Way. This award is in memory of the tremendous legacy of Mr. Yurish’s work with United Way and our community.
Annual Marvin J. Yurish Spirit Award: Kathy Boylan has been absolutely critical in aiding us in our transformation to our community impact mission. She has a community–wide, regional and state-wide perspective and works diligently to solve the problems of West Virginians. As a founding member of the Health and Human Service Collaborative, she brought great expertise to organizing the Collaborative’s work while putting the full force of her agency’s support behind organizing the region’s health and human service community to address the needs of our fellow citizens in a holistic manner. She sees community capacity as more than just dollars. She knows there are no single solutions to solving some of the most vexing problems in building strong families. Successful United Way programs that can be attributed to her efforts are the Regional Resource Connection, the Eastern Panhandle Informational and Referral Center, the Warming Hands and Hearts Energy Assistance Program, School Supply Program, Children’s Toy Drive and the soon to be established, Eastern Panhandle Christmas Bureau. Congratulations and thank you, Kathy!
